Title: Sr. Desktop Analyst Insurance Company Department: IT Reporting to: Team Leader, IT Services Desk Position Type: Permanent Summary: Posted Jan.13, 2005. Primary Responsibilities: Providing consulting services to internal customers Configuration and deployment of desktops and notebooks Develop, update, and maintain base common desktop images for clients Perform integration testing on workstation base images and applications Provide software application packaging services using WISE, Altiris RapiDeploy, or other MSI building technologies. Evaluate and make recommendations on hardware and software products Work on other projects and special assignments as required Packaging and distribution of vulnerability and functionality patches/upgrades Adhere to established policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and practices. Identifies opportunities for improving existing processes. Builds and documents process improvements and best practices. Troubleshooting problems reported with hardware and software installations. Some level 2 deskside support Keeps abreast of all innovations in change to AEGON Canada systems to ensure having appropriate tools and training to provide quality support Contribute knowledge by actively participating in team discussion forums and team meetings. Identifies and raises issues which need to be discussed during team meetings. Mentoring and guidance of fellow team members Solving problems: Analyze information toe recognize potential problems, propose and pilot solutions, etc. Provide backup for Service Desk Analysts as necessary Qualifications: Advanced/Expert level knowledge of Microsoft client technologies specific to the installation and maintenance of the OS, application integration, and application development environments. Strong MS productivity application knowledge and experience such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Working/strong knowledge of AEGON Canada standard software packages Strong/Advanced knowledge of Wise Packaging Studio Altiris 5.5/6.0 Active Directory Strong knowledge of MS scripting technologies (admin scripting, Visual Basic, Jscript) Advanced knowledge of all client hardware technologies Have or are actively pursuing MSCE or MCSA 2000/XP Have or are actively pursuing ITIL Foundations certification A+ Hardware certification an asset Post-secondary degree in a technology related field would be a strong asset Effective communications with end-users verbally and in writing Demonstrates consistent, high-quality customer service skills during interactions with customers.
