When you feel pity, is it an emotional/sentimental reaction of self-defense “I am not a cold soul”…..or is it a compassionate approach that requires bravery and strength to experience the full spectrum of feelings that arise when faced with pity.

Nevertheless, it is still shocking everytime my eyes fall on a miserable creature. I just learned to hide my emotions. I try not to stare (I don't like to get upset myself, or upset anyone else). Pitty? No, I don't usually feel pitty. On the contrary, I feel like running away...I don't know why. I guess it is difficult to comprehand.

Ну тот было к нам и не успел рот открыть, как братик вдруг заявляет: - wait...I know this one..do you have any change? Это я еще выдержал хотя совершенно не ожидал. Но когда я в ответ услышал - hey man, it's my line... That was it.. It's sad that there are so many homeless people, but when I see 20-25 year-olds with an empty coffee cup going through rows of cars stopped at a red light, begging for change, somehow I think that it's their choice а не безвыходное положение...correct me if I'm wrong

Каждый день ходил одной и той же дорогой, каждый день видел одних и тех же бомжей. (Кстати, знаете, у них есть пересменка и обеденный перерыв!) У одного была стандартная фраза, начинающаяся ;" Excuse me, Sir! Are you from Toronto?" При любом ответе дале следовало:" Then you will understand my situation. I came from Kitchener (or whatever) and lost my wallet, etc..." Когда он обратился ко мне раз в третий, и я ответил на вопрос отрицательно, я услышал ;" Don't bullshit me, man! I've seen you here before!" Должен ли я после этого испытывать жалость к ему подобным? А насчёт пересменок- на углу Дандас и Янг, около Gap, с 8 до 12 сидит пожилой негр, потом его сменяет часа на четыре белый мужик, затем тот возвращается. Можете проверить.

Mne kazhetsia, chto ya nikogda ne smogla bi ispitivat' zhalost' po nastoyaschemu lubya muzhchinu.
